Biography

Halley B. Thiel is an Associate in the Los Angeles office of Zelms Erlich Lenkov. She is a member of the Restaurant, Retail, and Hospitality Litigation team.

Ms. Thiel received her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She graduated with Highest Honors and Distinction in the Major. While in attendance, Ms. Thiel wrote and published a Master’s-level thesis on the growth of the California oil industry in the 20th century.

Ms. Thiel subsequently received her Juris Doctor from University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly University of California, Hastings College of the Law). Ms. Thiel completed original research on the interplay between privately-monitored Environmental Social Governance (ESG) metrics and proposed legislation to control and disclose those metrics. She was also a member of the Legal Services for Children Clinic, in which she completed guardianship cases and DACA renewals.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Thiel worked at a boutique defense firm in Los Angeles, where she provided legal services to corporations of all sizes, ranging from startups to Fortune 500 clients. Her area of work encompassed a broad range of corporate matters, from products liability litigation to business organizations and startup assistance. Ms. Thiel also has prior clerking experience assisting restaurants and hotels with licensing and permitting processes, as well as with corporate tax defense.

Ms. Thiel is admitted to the California State Bar and the United States District Court, Central District of California. She is also a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.

When she is not at her desk, Ms. Thiel enjoys running with her local track club, visiting museums, and exploring new cuisines.
