Biography
Jamileh Hawatmeh is a Partner in the Los Angeles office of Zelms Erlich Lenkov, where she is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Professional Liability practice groups.
Ms. Hawatmeh focuses her practice on real estate brokerage defense, professional liability litigation, commercial real estate transactions, and outside general counsel services for real estate and commercial businesses. She represents clients in all phases of litigation, from pre-suit strategy through trial and appeal, and is an experienced trial attorney with a proven record of successfully handling complex disputes.
Ms. Hawatmeh’s practice focuses on real estate litigation, professional liability defense, legal malpractice, state bar defense, and the defense of real estate-related disciplinary matters. In addition to litigation, she advises clients on a broad range of transactional real estate matters, including the drafting and negotiation of commercial and residential leases, purchase and sale agreements, and other real estate-related contracts and documents.
In addition to her real estate practice, Ms. Hawatmeh has experience handling complex business and commercial litigation matters, including disputes involving wire fraud, secured transactions, lending practices, and construction law. Ms. Hawatmeh also represented individuals, emerging businesses, startups, and large corporate entities in high-risk litigation involving a wide range of business tort and commercial disputes.
Ms. Hawatmeh graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona with a degree in International Business Relations. She earned her Juris Doctor from Chapman University, Fowler School of Law, and graduated with an emphasis in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. She also studied International Business Law at Cambridge University, Sidney Sussex College, in Cambridge, England.
Ms. Hawatmeh currently serves as a member of the California Lawyers Association’s Real Property Law Executive Committee and is a member of the Association of Discipline Defense Counsel.
