Biography
Lubna S. El-Gendi is Senior Counsel in the New York City office of Zelms Erlich Lenkov, where she brings her wide and varied experience to a litigation defense practice representing clients, including municipal entities, in professional liability, premises liability, personal injury, worksite injury, and general civil and commercial litigation matters. She also has experience representing clients in construction, intellectual property, entertainment, and insurance matters, and has an academic background in international law and property law, with a focus on cultural property law.
Lubna began her legal career as a complex commercial litigation associate at a large, international law firm. Since then, she has worked in the higher education, nonprofit, and consulting industries, including in director level roles focused on nonprofit operations, diversity and inclusion, and art, museum, and cultural heritage law. She loves mentoring students and others and has served as a coach to several law student moot court teams, including one team of first-time mooters that reached the quarterfinals of the 2014 Oxford International IP Law Moot held at Oxford University in the UK.
Lubna earned her B.S., in Biology with a Specialization in Neuroscience, from Stony Brook University, her J.D., with an International and Comparative Law Certificate, from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and her LL.M., in International Cultural Heritage Law, from DePaul University College of Law. She is admitted to practice law in New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
Outside of the office, Lubna is an avid traveler who has visited 17 countries and lived on three continents.
