Biography
Mr. Scholnick is a Partner in the Los Angeles Office of Zelms Erlich Lenkov.
Mr. Scholnick obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree at California State University Northridge in Criminology and his Juris Doctorate Degree at Golden Gate University (“GGU”). At GGU, he received the CALI Excellence for Future Award in Legal Research and Writing II, was on the Dean’s List for Three Semesters, and was inducted into the law schools Jesse Carter Society For Outstanding Academic Success in 2008. Mr. Scholnick was a Member and Associate Editor of the Golden Gate University Law Review, and a Moot Court Board Member from 2009-2010. His favorite experience from law school was studying abroad at the University of Paris X: Nanterre in Paris, France, where he spent a summer semester learning the application of European Union law as against Member Countries statutory and case/common law.
Prior to coming to Zelms Erlich Lenkov, Mr. Scholnick was a partner (and later sole practitioner) of a boutique general civil litigation law firm with an emphasis on real estate, landlord/tenant, unlawful detainer, business transactions, and contracts. He specialized in prosecuting unlawful detainers for property management companies and managed all stages of a high volume of landlord/tenant cases. Through his work with his clients, Mr. Scholnick has handled transactional work, leasing, probate, settlement conferences, mediations & arbitrations, City Attorney Hearings, creditor claims in bankruptcy, civil harassment cases, personal injury claims, appellate work in the Appellate Division (both appellant and respondent), and defending against ADA Claims (among others). Mr. Scholnick prides himself in developing and maintaining close working relationships with his clients, including expeditious communication of updates, and procedural and substantive support at all stages of litigation.
Aside from his practice at Zelms Erlich Lenkov, Mr. Scholnick is a huge music buff, spending countless hours at various concert venues, and he has a mild obsession with the Grateful Dead (to say the least). Mr. Scholnick loves spending as much time as he can with his wife and children exploring diverse adventures in the city and beyond, and his favorite moment of every day is reading Harry Potter books (in various character voices) to his two boys before bed.
